Tustin Legacy Development Advancing

Plans to build a new shopping center and two new hotels advanced this month in Tustin. The City Council named Regency Centers as the developer of a grocery-anchored 185,000-square-foot shopping center in the Tustin Legacy development, located on the former Tustin Marine Corps air base.

Also, R.D. Olson Development of Irvine broke ground on the Tustin Pacific Center, a $60 million project that will include 294 hotel rooms plus a small, business-oriented retail center near Edinger Avenue and the 55 freeway.

Together, the two projects will add nearly 400,000 square feet of commercial space on the city’s south side. National shopping center builder Regency Centers becomes the first developer picked for a non-residential project on the former air base.

The city approved an agreement to begin exclusive negotiations with the firm, bringing the number of parcels with a designated developer to four.
